Just Visiting: X-Ray Vision

The Opera

Two explorers take a journey through apocalyptic visions and uncanny rituals. A collage of dreams cobbled together from the broken pieces of an alternate existence. Strange communions with beasts and monsters. What lies at the other end of the telescope?

My name is Brett Carson and I'm a composer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Join me in bringing to life the latest in a series of pieces exploring the dramatic/visual side of music making with a new multimedia chamber opera, in which I’ll be exploring non-narrative storytelling through music and experimental theater.

The People

I’m lucky to be working with some of the most versatile and cutting-edge musicians in the Bay Area including vocalists David Katz and Christina Stanley, and instrumentalists Lewis Patzner (cello), Jason Hoopes (bass), and Jordan Glenn (drums). We've already been rehearsing and developing the music/action for a few months, and I’m excited to be presenting this work with them. Additionally, I have the pleasure of collaborating with Sam Genovese, who is doing live video projections to compliment the on-stage action, Adria Otte, who is doing additional electronic sound design, and Julie Moon, who is filling the role of rehearsal pianist and assisting with other aspects of the design.
